I started in the trenches. For nearly two decades, I ran tech, security, and ops for firms that grew fast and broke a lot. I sat in MSP shops. I sat on the client side of the table as a CIO. I watched the same thing play out, year after year. The owner does not know what good looks like, the IT vendor knows the owner does not know, and the bills go up.
